The CASCA Graduate Student Workshop will take place on Tuesday, 22 May, and will include presentations and interactive activities that focus both on science and industry.
The morning sessions will include a demonstration of Cyber Laboratories, an innovative new way for researchers form across the globe to collaborate on large data sets, and a tutorial on how graduate students can make the most of Gemini Observatory’s Fast Turnaround observing proposal system.
The Graduate Student Committee (GSC) will meet after lunch. Then, a special Astronomy-Industry session will enable graduate students and representatives from Canadian companies to discuss the ways in which industry and the astronomy community interact. Industry will be represented both by our industrial partners in building astronomy facilities and tech companies who hire our astronomy trainees.
Note: Non-student CASCA members are welcome to observe the session and join in the networking wine and cheese reception from 5-7PM before the general CASCA Reception from 7-9PM.
